Description
The 2N5961 is a silicon NPN transistor built specifically for low-noise, extremely high-gain amplifier front ends. Housed in a TO-92 package, it delivers a minimum hFE of 150 (up to 700) at 10mA and even higher gain figures at lower collector currents, making it a strong choice for the first amplification stage in sensitive audio, instrumentation, or sensor circuits.
Its noise figure is specified down to as low as 3dB under the right source-resistance and bias conditions, and its 100MHz minimum transition frequency gives it enough bandwidth for wideband small-signal work well beyond typical audio circuits.
