CD4021 8-stage Static Shift Register

The CD4021 is an 8-stage static shift register IC, shifting serial data in bit-by-bit through 8 static storage stages, letting a single serial line be converted to 8 parallel output lines.

Being static, the register retains its data indefinitely as long as power is applied, without needing a refresh clock, useful for parallel-to-serial or serial-to-parallel conversion in low-speed data expansion applications.
