Description
The CD4029 is a binary-decade up/down counter IC, selectable between binary (base-2) and decade (base-10) counting modes, counting either upward or downward depending on its control inputs.
This dual-mode flexibility lets a single IC serve either as a binary counter or a decimal (BCD) counter depending on how it’s configured, reducing the need for separate binary and decade counter ICs in mixed designs.
Part of the CD40xx CMOS logic family, this IC is a standard building block for flexible counting circuits.
