CD4060 14-Stage Ripple-Carry Binary

The CD4060 is a 14-stage ripple-carry binary counter with an integrated oscillator, from the 40xx series CMOS logic family. This device combines a 14-stage binary counter with a built-in oscillator that can be externally configured with a resistor and capacitor or a crystal. The oscillator’s frequency is divided down by the counter stages, generating multiple frequency outputs at each stage.

The CD4060 is commonly used as a time-base generator, frequency divider, or timer in applications such as clock generation, long-duration timers, and low-frequency oscillators. Each of the 14 counter stages provides a divided output, allowing selection of various timing intervals. The device can also be used with an external clock input when not using the internal oscillator. A master reset input clears all stages to zero and disables the oscillator.
