Description
The CD4504 is a hex voltage level shifter designed to translate logic signals between different voltage domains. This 6-channel device converts input signals from a lower voltage supply (VCC) to a higher output voltage level (VDD), or vice versa, enabling communication between digital circuits operating at incompatible voltage levels. Each channel operates independently, providing bidirectional level-shifting capability across the six buffers.
Internally, the CD4504 employs a CMOS structure with a separate supply for the input and output stages, allowing translation from TTL levels (5V) to CMOS levels (up to 15V) or between various CMOS voltage rails. An external voltage select input determines whether the input threshold is compatible with TTL or CMOS logic levels. This makes the CD4504 an essential interface component in mixed-voltage systems such as microcontroller peripherals, sensor interfaces, and legacy logic families.
