CD4532 8-Bit Priority Encoder

The CD4532 is an 8-bit priority encoder from the 40xx-series CMOS logic family, converting one of eight active-high inputs into a 3-bit binary code representing the highest-priority active input. The priority scheme ensures that when multiple inputs are simultaneously asserted, the input with the highest index (from 0 to 7) takes precedence, generating the corresponding 3-bit binary output.

Operating from 3V to 18V, the CD4532 includes a group select output to indicate any active input, which can be used in interrupt systems. An enable input allows the device to be cascaded for 16-bit or larger priority encoding systems. This IC is commonly used in priority arbitration, keyboard encoding, and interrupt controller applications.
