CD4556 Dual Binary 1 of 4 Decoder Inverter

The CD4556 is a dual binary 1-of-4 decoder/demultiplexer with inverting outputs from the 40xx-series CMOS family. Each of the two independent decoders converts a 2-bit binary address input into one active-low output, enabling selection of one of four channels based on the applied address. This device is used in memory address decoding, peripheral selection, and data routing applications.

Each decoder includes a strobe input that gates the outputs, allowing enable/disable control for bus-oriented systems. Operating over a 3V to 18V supply, the CD4556 provides the low power consumption and high noise margin typical of 40xx-series CMOS devices. The inverting output configuration is useful for driving active-low enable lines in digital systems.
