CD4098 CMOS/MOS Dual Monostable Multivibrator

The CD4098 is a CMOS dual monostable multivibrator from the 40xx series logic family. This device contains two independent monostable (one-shot) pulse generators, each triggered by a positive-going input signal. Each multivibrator produces an output pulse of controlled duration, determined by an external resistor and capacitor network. The pulse width can be set from microseconds to seconds, offering wide timing flexibility.

Each monostable features both retriggerable and non-retriggerable operation modes, selectable via a control input. In retriggerable mode, the output pulse is extended by subsequent triggers; in non-retriggerable mode, further triggers during the output pulse are ignored. This makes the CD4098 suitable for a wide variety of timing applications, including delay generation, pulse stretching, and frequency division.
