Description
The 4N26 is an optocoupler (optoisolator) with a phototransistor output, using an infrared LED input to optically transmit a signal across an isolation barrier rated at 5000Vrms, keeping the input and output circuits electrically separated.
The input LED has a typical forward voltage of 1.2V at a recommended forward current of 10mA (max 60mA), while the output phototransistor delivers a current transfer ratio (CTR) of 20%–100% at IF=10mA, VCE=10V. The output side is rated for a 30V collector-emitter voltage and up to 50mA collector current, with a VCE saturation of 0.2V.
Housed in a standard DIP-6 through-hole package, this device switches with a rise/fall time of roughly 2-5µs and operates across -55°C to +100°C, making it suited for signal isolation, level shifting, noise suppression, and MCU interfacing.
