CD4099 8-bit Addressable Latch

The CD4099 is an 8-bit addressable latch from the 40xx series CMOS logic family. This device stores data from a single input line into one of eight output latches, based on a 3-bit address selection. The selected output latch updates to reflect the data input, while all other outputs remain in their previous state. This addressing capability makes the CD4099 suitable for demultiplexing and distributed control applications.

A master reset input forces all latches into a known state, overriding the data input and address. Data can be read back from the selected latch, and the latch retains stored data indefinitely while power is supplied. Typical applications include addressable switch matrices, LED and display routing, and register arrays in control systems.
