CD4510 BCD Up/Down Counter

The CD4510 is a BCD up/down counter from the 40xx series of CMOS logic. This synchronous presettable counter accepts a 4-bit binary-coded decimal input and can count both upward and downward under external control. A clock enable input allows the counting operation to be gated, while a preset enable line permits loading of a starting BCD value for applications requiring specific count sequences.

Designed for flexibility in digital timing and control systems, the CD4510 provides a carry-out output for cascading multiple stages into longer BCD counters. The asynchronous clear function resets the counter to zero independently of the clock. Standard CMOS characteristics ensure low power consumption and wide supply tolerance.
