Description
The CD4527 is a BCD rate multiplier from the 40xx-series CMOS family, designed to generate an output pulse train whose frequency is a controllable fraction of the input clock frequency. The multiplication ratio is determined by a BCD input code, allowing precise division of a clock signal by a factor ranging from 0 to 9 in each of four BCD digits, providing 4-decade resolution.
Operating from 3V to 18V, the CD4527 can be cascaded to produce higher resolution or multiple output rates. The device includes complement and carry outputs that support synchronous cascading for extended counting applications. This IC is used in frequency synthesis, rate control, and digital instrumentation where precise clock division is required.
