MCP3008 (8-Channel 10-Bit A/D Converter + SPI Serial Interface)

The MCP3008 is an 8-channel, 10-bit analog-to-digital converter IC, communicating with a host microcontroller over SPI to convert up to 8 separate analog input signals into digital readings.

Each of the 8 channels provides 10-bit resolution (1024 discrete steps), letting a microcontroller lacking sufficient onboard ADC channels — such as a Raspberry Pi, which has no native analog inputs — read multiple analog sensors through a single SPI-connected chip.

Suited to projects needing multiple analog sensor inputs on platforms without enough native ADC channels, such as Raspberry Pi-based sensor readouts.
